It Is Definitely Spring.

Do you know how I know?

It's not the crew setting up the temporary garden stores around town.











It's not the first robin that I saw today.


















It's not the red tips of peony bushes pushing up from the ground.




















It's not the person walking around in flip-flops--that's just pushing the season.





















Nope. None of the above.


It's the ants that suddenly showed up in a swarm on my kitchen counter.
They didn't even stop first to build a mound in the sidewalk cracks.


















I guess there is something good to be said about winter.

For me it was the dead mouse that showed up on my back door mat. The cat is now going outside again and doing her job of killing rodents and leaving them for me to step on when I let the dog out. I'll take dead animals over anymore snow. I know, now that I have said it we will get a foot of snow.

Ewww--but then, I have mice but no cat, so sometimes their little carcasses end up behind the radiator--it's not any better that way! In spring I keep hoping they will move outdoors and STAY THERE!
